In tropical rainforests throughout Asia and Australia, Dendrobium orchids naturally grow attached to the trunks and branches of trees, where their roots are exposed to moving air, rain and filtered sunlight. They are epiphytes, meaning they use trees only for support and not for nutrients.
After years of growing imported orchids in pots, we noticed something remarkable. Many eventually began to struggle as excess moisture remained around the roots, often leading to root rot.

The orchid is gently secured using natural jute twine, which gradually biodegrades over time. As the twine disappears, the orchid's roots naturally attach themselves to the driftwood, creating a permanent living partnership between plant and wood.
Over the months, the roots wrap around the driftwood, transforming the entire piece into a breathtaking work of living botanical art.
