In my experience, Coelogyne flaccida is one of the most underrated orchids for Kenya's highlands. Its natural home is the cool, humid mountain forests of the Himalayas, where it grows attached to trees under bright filtered light with cool nights and excellent air circulation. Those conditions closely resemble what we enjoy in Nairobi, Limuru, Kiambu, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Kericho and Eldoret.

That is why this orchid adapts so beautifully to these regions. It doesn't simply survive—it thrives.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I give growers is don't rush to divide your plant. Every new pseudobulb is another future flowering growth.
